Certain functions of the German Court of Arbitration for Sport provided for in the DIS Sport Arbitration Rules, are carried out by the Appointing Committee for the German Court of Arbitration for Sport (the DIS Sport Appointing Committee). This committee is responsible for the appointment, replacement as well as dismissal of arbitrators.
The DIS Sport Appointing Committee consists of three members and three alternate members, who are nominated by the DIS Board of Directors in consultation with the Chairman of the DIS Advisory Board for a period of two years.

The members of the DIS Sport Appointing Committee remain in office until new members are nominated. Repeated nomination of a member is also possible. In case one or more members cannot take part in a decision, the alternate members in alphabetical order will perform his or her duties.
The DIS Sport Appointing Committee is not bound by instructions; its work is confidential. It decides by simple majority. Appeals against its decisions are not permitted.
The members of the DIS Sport Appointing Committee who are involved in arbitration proceedings under the DIS Sport Arbitration Rules in any capacity do not participate in the decision-making process concerning these arbitrations.
Due to the Integrity Principles of the DIS, which aim to promote transparency and trust in arbitration, a member of the DIS Sport Appointing Committee cannot be appointed as an arbitrator for arbitrations under the DIS Sport Arbitration Rules.
